~Faltering Hope
By heinzs
Wispy cirrus ice clouds glow in the east, daubed with morning's orange and gold -- while the western moon, bold in full glory, still shines, preparing to set for the day. In the crisp November dawn all seems peaceful, well with the world. Memory brings a sharp stop to the revery. September's terror still looms o'er the land. Headlines' warnings - a grim reminder of the nation's profound insecurity. Evil has entered the garden of Eden and the serpent reigns supreme. Despite our inner faith, hope falters. Bioterrorism is today's buzzword. Fear of imminent attack clouds our senses. Thus preoccupied, terror stands victorious. Can we remain thus - fearful and hopeless? We must gather up all our strength to prevail. Gird your loins and take that step into the cold streets of normalcy. In deep abjection we are doomed -- so collect up all remaining hope and forge from it the weapon that will carry us through tomorrow. Even in the direst straits, a better world ahead awaits! 11/2/2001 Written November 2nd, 2001 © on Nov 02 2001 01:48 AM PST, Heinz Scheuenstuhl 0 • 9
