How Shall I Compare Thee to a Timeless End?

Viewer discretion advised. Adult content. Oh how can I hope to compare The love that the two of us share? In your arms I shall die, With a glint in my eye, And on my face such a blank stare. But soft, just who are you in truth? Your smile contains such a strange tooth, I swear by my spleen, Nothing like it I've seen, Egad! (Now I'm being uncouth). A doppleganger's taken your place, An evil twin using your face. And in my great zeal Your love-gift to steal I've had sex outside the human race! Your hair, like some snakes, starts to billow - It's squirming like mad on the pillow! I find it surprising My manhood is rising, Like a wand made of yew or of willow. Like death, love is often quite blind, To the truth of what sleeps in the mind. Bittersweet, like horseradish, If I die, say my Kadish, For a love truer I'll never find. 11-8-2001Written in response to the challenge from Jalan: Add a Challenge Submission: Challenge Description: Write me a poem, with meter and rhyme, comparing love to death. The poem must contradict itself at the same time, and contain the words spleen, doppleganger, tooth, billow, and horseraddish. Cannot be a humerous poem, ie it must have a serious side. I may have stretched the definition of "humorous" and "serious" a small bit. Written November 8th, 2001 © on Nov 08 2001 07:37 AM PST, Heinz Scheuenstuhl 10 • 0 • 16
