I Want to Believe I want to believe in man's basic goodness - that peace on Earth is actually possible. I want to believe that hunger and disease will vanish from man's experience. I want to believe that my meager existence will leave some noticeable mark on time's great slate. I want to believe that my children will have a chance to live in a better world than the one I inherited. I want to believe we will finally waken and learn history's lessons and no longer repeat past mistakes. I want to believe in a government dedicated to the well-being of each and every citizen. I want to believe in a loving and caring God who watches over us and keeps us from evil. I want to believe - but each day of my life my faith is assailed by man's inhumanity. I want to believe - but the destitute are mute to a deaf nation and a blind church. I want to believe - and I find solace and hope in the hearts of poets and artists' eyes. I'll continue my quest 'til my own timely rest, these issues to relieve - 'cause I want to believe! 4/14/2002Wrote this earlier today... good excuse to post it as the survivor challenge entry.
