Revelation (Life is a Game)

Revelation (Life is a game) By new moon's dark I lit a spark to chase away the gloom. To shed some light throughout the night - fend off impending doom. In graveyard scene I sit serene, for demons I fear none, I'll bide my time and speak the rhyme before the night is done. Will-o-the-wisp with voice so crisp does bid me leave this place, but I'll not go 'til daylight's glow reveals to me her face. To her I say "Tell me, I pray, unveil the mystery!" The shifting sands of distant lands stayed silent as the sea. "I cannot tell," her words did knell, "the tale you wish to know - turmoil and strife must be your life - the gods have made it so." With that she left, and I, bereft, did tremble in my fear. Her words of pain brought tears to rain - my shattered hopes so dear. But wait, I thought, this is for naught - I will not let this be. If I must fight for my birthright, I'll do it with great glee! And then, forsooth, I knew the truth! thought strife may be the way - the Gods are wise and in its guise will lead me day by day. So hand in hand I'll take a stand - to struggle I'll commit. Without a pause take up the cause - dear reader - tag, you're it! 4/14/20029 stanzas defined meter - iambic throughout 2-2-3 feet per line rhyme aabccb I'd love to see someone else's attempt at something like this... not really a "challenge" *grin* Written April 14th, 2002 © on Apr 14 2002 07:57 AM PST, Heinz Scheuenstuhl 0 • 10
