Short Subjects ii

Short subjects II Leaves in the sun, Caressed by morning breezes, A Rhododendron blooms. ************************************** Toes writhing like spiders in the sand, A child sits, fondled by gentle waves, And smiles. ******************************************** Velvet smooth, Glistening among leaves, A snake escapes. *************************************** Eyes bright, sunlight reflecting, Its tongue a phantom flame tasting the air, A lizard basks. **************************************************** Moonbeams Glisten through the curtained sill And strike the heart. ******************************************* Frogs Chirping in the distant night, Tidings in the wind. *********************************************** Silently stalking, rippling muscle, Python strikes. Coils crushing, Jaws devouring, and slumber, sated for a while. ************************************************These shore minimalistic haiku-like pieces were written back in 1972-73 and were basically some of my first experiments in poetry.
