Together

This is a poem I found on a computer hard drive.  I do not know for sure who the author was, but I think it was written by an older jewish fellow for his wife after he was diagnosed with a terminal cancer.  I feel this poem is just too universal to not share with everyone.  I did NOT write it, so don't rate it for me.  If you do rate it, I will consider the stars for "Sam". TOGETHER Kindred souls, Touching as they pass. Like ships in the night Thru countless ages. We've lived before, We've loved before, We've known before, But each time is as the first. Life is eternal. I've known you forever. You were my friend, comrade and lover. You are still those to me as I am them to you. I've lived much of this life without  you near, And yet you have always been close. You were in my dreams that I failed to remember. Unknown and yet as familiar as a part of me. I've had you, held you, and loved you. You gave me warmth and grounded me. You shared yourself with me. It was good, it was right, it was needed. Being mortal we will die, And pass on to other planes. I will never again see you as you now are. This is sad, but natural and unchangeable. But there is a place where souls go. It is a backwater in the flow of time. We enter as we exit each life cycle, And there we are cleansed and begin anew. Then I will know you again. We will once more be friends, comrades and lovers. But whatever we are to each other We will be together................Again, not my poem but I felt the need to share it.
