Morning Slumber
By Hippygirl
MORNING SLUMBER A hand softly touches her shoulder Gentle, insistent shaking She slowly opens her eyes Searching the room for whoever it is Nothing, she is alone But she can feel a presence unseen She stands and walks to the window The sun just cresting over the hill Casting dawn’s shadows over the meadow Drawn to the door she steps outside And makes her way slowly across the lawn She feels the dew on her bare feet As she continues to the meadow Daisies peek through the tall grasses She stops here and there gathering her flowers Feeling a hand in hers as she wanders Hearing his soft whisper in her ear Stopping she lies down in the damp grass Closing her eyes she listens to the birds’ morning song She awakens in her bed, released from the dream There beside her, a bouquet of daisies By Hippygirl ©2001 Written November 28th, 2001 © on Nov 28 2001 01:13 PM PST 0 • 8
