Remember, my son.
By HomeGrown
If I could, son, I would tell you what do in life; every step of the way, I would be at your side. I would tell you what to eat, drink, and wear, who to date, and who to hate, and who to leave behind. I would walk you to school and sit in your class, of course helping you to add, subtract, and finger-paint. At night we would stay up late cramming for the test. (Those nights could be great, couldn't they?) I would make sure that your first car was older than you, maybe older than me. The older, the safer you know. I would make you takle your fears of pushing yourself, when I made you try out for football in high school; only to watch you get pummled in every game, on your way to a Heismann Trophy, and scholarship to Miami State. I would threaten to disown you, when you called me, 3 am wanting to tell me you were considering giving up college to play for the Dolphins. I would drive you to no less than a Masters, and a guarantee of life after football. I would follow you to the parties, take the drugs from everyone, and make you the constant designated driver. I would pick your wife, a professional woman, one with a good head on her shoulders, to keep yours on. I would make sure that you were erally, really ready, before allowing you to have children. I would coach you at all you games, Super Bowls included. And believe me, I would monitor those parties, too. All through life I would remain at your side, guiding, prodding, and trying my best to give you the best. So, if ever the time should come when I say, "Son, I just can't do it." Remember, my son, all the thing that I would do... ...if I could. I Love You, Samuel.Enough said, no? Written December 24th, 2001 © on Dec 23 2001 07:24 PM PST, DeTavis 18 • 0 • 12
