The Best of Love

By ilenia

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Having reached the summit of love how then can one settle for less. If you start with pure gold then it's hard to continue with brass. Why does passion have to fade I don't believe it should, if one becomes jaded, something is misunderstood. If there is love then it should thrive, unless one stops contributing, for it takes some work to keep it alive, and both have to be willing. Why do we invest years in each other yet cheat ourselves out of the zest being willing to settle for much less, when there is nothing but our own lethargy to keep us from having the best. If I am the recipient of the pearl of love I will respond with the diamond of love. Eileen T. Waldron © 2001 Written January 8th, 2002 © on Jan 08 2002 05:50 AM PST   0 • 8
