under a foot and over a crab and back and forth again plenty of air if i could breathe and water if i could swim plenty of sun if i could see and clashing noise to hear rock on rock and sand on kelp we all go far and near under a shell and over a ray and through a shrimp i move back and forth and up and down all falling into grooves spit upon this breathing pavement at one highest tide i lose my color for a week beach warms and so i m dried a rain comes and a rivulet and that high tide again and all combine to send me into thrashing seas to spin to grind in the excitement of a zillion atoms grand one zillion to the zillionth welcomes one more to the sand under the moon and over the earth and through an ocean blue and left upon a mountain top a puzzle and a clue Written February 5th, 2002 © on Feb 05 2002 04:26 AM PST, Frederic Jacob Gutknecht IV   10 • 0
