The Albatross
By janmew
Alas, I have this albatrossit hangs around my neck,I bear it with a tolerancewading through this shipwreck.Sometimes it doesn’t feelso much I can’t abideand then I find I cannot moveI have no energy inside.I know that I could be much morewithout this heavy weight but I have no strength to eludethis burden full of hate. Some day perhaps this albatrosswill loose itself from meand I may know the feelingof truly being free. When finally that day arrivesand I look upon the shoreand see the beauty of that islandthat I have seen beforeI will breath the scented airand bask in the morning sunfor when that weight is liftedI’ll have the ability to run.Until that day, I bear itfrom each morning to each nightand live in dreams of the daythe albatross takes flight.A piece that is completely out of character for me.
