To Me You Are My Everything
By Jhai
I can't remember when I was bornWhether afternoon, evening or morn.I wish I could recall when Mother letyou hold me in your arms and our eyes met.I wish to think you gazed at me in awe with love.As a child I sensed a great security.I seemed to know you were watching me.Always with a kind word we'd chatas I'd sneak slyly on your lap.I used to want to marry you.I'd never find a love so true. You'd play along but we both knewTwas just a game as I slowly grew.To me you are my everything. You could do most anything. As time went by the teen years would bringAn Independence that said 'Let Freedom Ring'.I'm so very sorry and ashamed of those days. When all I wanted was to have my own way.Even after I totaled your car,When I came home you hugged MEbecause I was alright.I feel blessed to have a dad like youbecause unfortunately some men don't have a clue. You did your best, what you had to do.Helping me be a good parent like you. When I married in '85I thought back on what kept your marriage aliveyou were as great a husband as a Dad.I picked a man with qualities you have.Smart warm generous honest and loving. Not like some who argue by pushing and shoving. You showed by example staying for better or worseYou forgot self and gave from within.Because I believe in you and everythingthat has past before and has a promise to bring,I will be stong in my grief and hear the angels sing.Your the greatest Dad there ever was.Bill Allen6-9-28 to 12-16-007-29-98, My Dad was so much to me.
