Albuquerque Sky
By Jimita
Lightning crashes in the Albuquerque sky each drop a silver arrow piercing the dust and dissolving the hills within seconds the current rages canons boom louder and nearer and shock waves slam into the ground with my eyes closed I feel the lightning before the flash and the reverberation echoing through space a glimpse of divine power illuminating the sundered sky but the storm blows away in the wind fading to mere flashes behind the mountain the flood cascades down the arroyo washing away my painAlbuquerque is a schizo kind of place. At first, it's just sand and sage, boiling hot in summer and bitter cold in the winter. After a while, though, you notice the play of light across the sky, the power of the weather. You get to understand how it became known as Tierra Encantada. Dedicated to Rob Becher. Written January 20th, 2002 © on Jan 19 2002 06:32 PM PST 0 • 9
