You Are Safe With Me

In the darkness, Not just the absence of light... The images don't always come as dreams. Sometimes storms push through the sleep. The flashing and the crashing waking the weary eyes. Cold rain, wet wind, the blankets not within reach. And worst of all, the fears of the little ones. The innocent and the unprotected. "Go to sleep little one," I say. "I have you in my arms," and she closes her eyes. I look upon the wall, and see the Image there. The wood. The figure. The reminder seldom remembered, seldom looked upon. "Go to sleep little one," it says to me, "I have you in my arms." Written February 24th, 2002 © on Feb 24 2002 10:18 AM PST, Dwaine Nolte   18 • 0 • 13
