For Sleep to Find

By kctce

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I awoke again to the thought of you holding me in your arms. And cursed the light that found my eyes, only to open them to harm. "Where are you now? Are you with me?" As I dream that you are here. Are your thoughts the same? Can you see me too? Can you see me in my shame? I miss your smile, I miss your face, the softness of your lips. Your kiss that breathed the life into my forever indebted bliss. Your eyes, so warm, they calmed my worries, and hands that held my hope, to see me through all the torment until morning when we awoke. How I wish I could just go to sleep and find you in my dreams. They're all I have to help me through my life now, so it seems. I pray you're there, safe from harm, yet missing me the same. And sleep will find me in your dreams, safe from all this pain.
