The Smarter Gunslinger (Ballad)
By kenp
Out from the saloon the stranger came packing two guns, this man with no name. Out to challenge for claim to fame, me the fastest gunslinger in this town called Blaine. Was there when I called him out into the street, dust balls were a swirling all around our feet. Noon sun was high and shining it's white light, above and behind me, off to my right. There we stood the two of us ready for the fight. Eyes ablazed a-twitchin fingers there an-itchin feet they were a-twitchin standing in the heat. Out there in the middle of a hot and dusty street. The glinting off my badge was causing him to blink, my guns were out and on him faster than a wink. Bullets rush towards him faster that he could think, blood is a-flowing as I turn to finish my drink. Eyes no longer a-twitchin fingers no more an-itchin feet they're still a-twitchin dead there in the heat. Laying in the middle of a hot and dusty street.
