The Taxidermist
By kingfish
The TaxidermistI started a course in Taxidermy oh so long agoI thought I wouldn't remember, because I haven't practised so!I look around my house at the memories,Mounting all these animals bring,How they did not leave my memories, what a wonderful thing,My first duck or squirrel and the pleasures it did bring!Funny that with a few decorations,They seem so life like dedications,Of the what their life should be!If they were on the ground, or sitting in a tree! Why did I not learn or carry on?A Taxidermist I would be.I know I can do it, a pleasure to my life,How I have to be so gentle while cutting with a knife! How they tell you the ways to protect,Never loosen a feather and be gentle with their neck!Keep them damp and be careful to mark their colours down,For if you do them properly, they appear they want to walk around.I have ducks on my refrigator in plumage they do show,How they were beautiful and with a hunter they did go.There protected in my home and my friends can see!Just how good I am now and what they did for me.They made me a Taxidermist, from the course I took,If you pass by my home, come in and take a look! by Keith Sherrard December 12, 1997Hi I just love comments because then I know others are reading my poetry Written December 1st, 1997 © on Nov 01 2001 05:57 AM PST 0 • 10
