Icicle's parade

By ladydreamfire

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

See the crystal gates Displayed on sight for all Now see my frozen love Encased within it's walls Notice the marching icicles Defending human heart Sharp as pain, cold as ice Keeping us apart Your light is not invited Until I know for sure If that light is lying Or if it's simply pure Deep within the icy grip And chilling through my soul Your caution is thrown into the wind And I am thrown to cold. My earthly life is fading Melting past the ranks The icicles jumped, quite startled Into my pool and drank Glistening frosted houses Built upon the sea In softest whispers tell me That I'd be a fool to flee My heart is slowly melting Wishing to be free But the icicles are alert now My escape won't be made easy I know the fight is futile I haven't got it left in me To fight my allied icicles And leave my cold security Even if you'd succeeded In melting the ice away I'd still be nothing more Than a shadow in the lake.           The End Written September 24th, 2001 © on Sep 23 2001 10:32 PM PST   0 • 1
