It's been 10 years, Since we've last seen each other. I almost gave up hope, And thought we lost each other forever. But now you came back in my life, And tried to make things right. But you can't erase the past emotions, And the sadness I felt at night. Your doing a good job, Doin' all you can. You even gave me the sex talk, And taught me how to be a man. You have a lot of catching up to do, That's how far you're behind. You already have 3 grand kids, And the oldest is already nine. Before I used to be ashamed of you, And that's what made me mad. But you rebuilt our relationship the right way, And I'm happy to say you're my dad.I know I have written 2 poems called "I Have Something To Get Off My Chest" and "He Ran Cause He Couldn't Stay In The Mild" about running fathers, but those poems really didn't relate to me, except for the fact that my father did leave me and my mom.
