First Light

By Lisanne

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I saw you there, a silhouette, against the black of night.  Confused, I was not sure of what your purpose was, but then I sensed a calm that only lovers can endure. I watched you reach above you very high To search the perfect spot within the dark And find your space upon the evening sky In velvet blackness there you made your mark. I ached to call your name and ask you please To come to me and help me find the light But I fell silent, dropping to my knees And waited while you reached to greater height. With sudden brightness I knew love's cocoon 'Twas then I knew that you had hung the moon. Written November 1st, 1998 © on Nov 18 2001 04:38 AM PST   0 • 8
