Afterwards

Tell me, after it's over that you really didn't mean to hurt me that bad. I know you didn't really want to see me that sad. But I can understand that you were just too mad to let me get away with things that were driving you up a wall. You were sick of being at someone's beckon call. Tell me, after it's over about the aftermath that took your heart down a different path. You could no longer bear to look into such painful eyes anymore. You had no more love to live for. You knew in your heart you could never be my friend. I can understand. You didn't expect it to all go down like that in the end. But somehow I know I will always be special, and you will sometimes remotely care. So tell me, after it's over, so I don't open my eyes and expect you standing there.
