Deny Everything
By Lone Poet
Americans are in a state of denial Liberty's homeland has been defiled Yet some go out to celebrate and play Like it’s just a fun national holiday Can't you feel the pain, hear humanity's lies? Over 3,000 lives lost, maybe someone you love Many of us unforsaken survivors don't realize What we have, this sacred gift sent from above Thrown away like it was a pile of junk Smile pretty, then go get stoned or drunk Tomorrow there may be none of us here So you drown your petty sorrows in beer It’s far easier to be weak, deny everything Than dare to confront the frightfully cruel fact We must ALL fight evil for peace’s uprising, Words speak nothing; the world must react © 10/01, 3/04 SmSI've made some changes to the original poem...added a few words here and there.
