October Thoughts

By Mdr

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Mid-October as the trees begin their cycle The leaves before me They remind of the days in my life One by one they fall, one by one they pass A leaf falls Never knowing Exactly where the wind will carry it Before coming to rest on the cold ground A leaf lands A day dawns Never knowing Exactly where fate will carry me Living my life as best I know how A day ends Now as I look at the trees Naked, stripped of their leaves Resting for the winter I know soon that I too will be naked Stripped of my days Resting for an eternity '97 Michael D.
