What Does The Night Do For The Day

By Michael Dennis Rivers

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

Really, what does the night do for the day? Does it take away the stink of yesterday? Does it clean the air and keep The golden dawn at bay? What is it... that the night does for day? Does it give the Sun a rest, Let the dark expose its best, Let us say the things by day we wouldn't say? What really does the night accrue the day? Does it blind us so our dreams can have their way? Does it bind us so we’re forced like dead to lay While demons find us, find our minds, Make us slaves, their captive prey? What horror is to night consigned by day? Does it toss us in our beds, Make us turn in drunk dismay? Does it wake us in the morning, Make us ready for our day, Crack of dawn, Devil spawned, Cursed night, Now you’re gone? How really does the night advance the day? revision #102 damn this pomeLike in "Do me" Written April 7th, 2002 © on Apr 07 2002 01:04 PM PST, same as above   0 • 1
