As Christ

By NanaBear

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

All creation held its breath as Christ cried out to GodAnd begged Him to 'remove this cup', perspiring drops of blood. All life and exaltation, or destruction filled the scales. No mortal sacrifice would do if Christ, himself, should fail. The anguish in Gethsemany, the horrors on the cross,Prepared the way for all mankind to regain what they'd lost. Thus we are held accountable for blessings we receive. The Atonement made by Christ for all requires that we believe.By placing all our faith in Christ and living as He taught,He'll raise the obedient up to God, but knowledge must be sought. We should prepare ourselves as Christ, fill every day with love,And call upon upon our Father for all 'good gifts' from above. As Christ fulfilled His mission here, so we too can succeedIn overcoming weaknesses as we His dear lambs feed.Though 'cleansing' is uncomfortable or painful in this life,We can progress, with Father's help, in spite of worldly strife.Fulfilling covenants we have made, as Christ on Calvary,Brings blessings to us in this life and in eternity. We cannot overcome alone, our flesh raised to the Highest,But we can yet triumphant be...when we become as Christ.
