The Present State Of Man

By NanaBear

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

What impudence, what vain conceit, controls the mind of man To think he can now "clone" himself, contrary to God's Plan? He places all faith in himself, the "arm of flesh" supreme, And scoffs at those who still believe in God as fools.  He deems He has the knowledge and the power, therefore, he has "control" To wrest the throne from God Himself, thus he will lose his soul! Mankind perverts his knowledge.  His decisions are unsound. He is a slave to appetities and, by them, he is bound To wallow in uncertainty, though far he would advance. His lack of all humility and wisdom makes him dance Like marrionettes upon their strings - each moved by unseen powers - Which take away his agency as they his light devour. The present state of man is such that, if he won't repent, he will be cut off, root and branch.  No trace will there be left To here pollute this noble sphere...of such 't will be bereft! God make man in HIS image - undefiled - all pure and clean. For man is God's own issue...greater than his wildest dream! But he must follow Father, purify and emulate His nature and His character, in every Godly trait. He must develop wisdom - knowledge gained by righteous choice - And exercise his agency with more than just his voice. There's all to gain and naught to lose, when he applies God's Plan, And exaltations far beyond the present state of man! Written April 5th, 2001 © on Aug 26 2001 05:10 PM PST   0 • 9
