'We Close The Door'

By NanaBear

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

We close the door, we judgment pass, we set the truth aside. We choose the sides and boundaries set, sit smugly and derideWhat others select for themselves.  We put them in a boxAnd label them, so we'll know not to open, should they knock.Experiences may make men blind to challenges of others. We wrongly misjudge what transpires in the lives of our brothers. The anguish we all feel at times is very non-exclusive,And trials that challenge every soul can make us self-delusive.We hold the power in our hands, our hearts, our minds and souls,To change our lives and our perceptions so we'll reach our goals. But we must look and seek and ask for what's worth striving for,Or fail to gain the hallowed ground.  If not, WE close the door.
