Hard Times
By naninina
Look at you Look at who you are now You were once a miserable, angry, (and failed, you thought) creature Digging thousands of trash cans, only to find others' left-over foods (Hunger never stops) On the street looking pale, looking weak, begging for pity (Countless cruel people are out there) And sleeping not peacefully in cartons and papers (continuously weeping) ...sigh... What hard times you were facing. What an unfair way for humans to live Injustice had been done to you my child, but nothing could fix the past Look at you these days, equipped with well-made and new garments and shiny shoes Look at you, looking fresh looking bright and certainly clean Look at you, now living in a decent house, cozy and warm. Protected from the hard rain the unbearable heat, and the heavy wind Look at you, looking so serious and working so hard Don't count your money (too much) Don't think of your possession (too much) (Cherish is the right word) Don't chase the ones who ripped you off until you die Don't hate the ones who were mean to you Smile Like you used to on the street, when friendly strangers offered kindness No need to bear your grudge (forever) No need to be angry (forever) Let go ... Let go... Let go of the past (No need to be miserable all your life) Written January 26th, 2002 © on Jan 26 2002 09:44 AM PST 18 • 0 • 12
