what were we talking about?
By nikxi36
They always say ‘the grass grows greener on the other side’ But I know the stars never shined brighter When we were one, it was all fun We never stopped to listen We never could, we never would, and never stopped to listen If we were together again, today Would we act the same as we did before? Rolling laughter, on the floor? Do you think that it would come again someday? Even if- it’s not today? Who cares what they always say, Since it doesn’t matter anyway. All that matter is the past, and our future- We can make it last. Trouble then but sorrow now, If only we’d stopped to listen somehow We never would’ve, you know we could’ve, just stopped for a while to listen And even though those stars shone brightly, Are you sure it wasn’t our imagination? We were quite a pair you know. So if you see that storm cloud coming your way, And you’re all alone with nothing else to say You’ll know to stop and listen.
