The GODS Are Laughing Tonight
All you looking down from Olympus Hear my pleas There’s been a grave mistake They’ve trapped me In the bodies of Tantalus and Sisyphus I am Tantalus Eternally thirsting for your love That your love Would be the water to the fire My parched soul Your love is the fruit that I reach out for Bringing nourishment to these dusty bones Filling up the empty space So sweet and mellow Overripe and juicy And yet I struggle as Sisyphus Pushing the rock up the hill Trying to gain your love Only to feel like the boulder Has flattened me out Now I must start all over again Reaching for water For my nourishment Getting knocked over Everything just within reach Never achievable Why do you oh cruel gods up there on Olympus Look down upon this soul Fighting to be happy and satisfied And simply laugh at your little parties At this mere mortal.
