Bound In His Words
By Noelani
He keeps me grounded Farther below any other Locking me in with his thoughts, bounded Negativity everywhere, I feel it smother. His eyes are so full of hate It cuts like a knife, with each glance Resentment of myself, is what he helped create His startling glare keeps me in his trance. When I finally feel content He comes and pulls me back down Tearing me up inside, is his very intent And with every word he says, only deeper I drown. As hard as I try It’s always easier to believe the bad Simpler, when his critical voice is nearby Piercing my hopes, and heart that is so sad. I’ll never understand Why it’s me, you carefully chose To grip only tighter in the palm of your hand And your voice that in my head, still echoes. I’m bound in his words His voice, is of my brother’s.My brother can't tolerate me, and I'm honestly not sure why. He often IS tearing me down, and I often mistake his (fake) kindess for true kindness, because most of the time he's only nice and considerate if there's something in it for him, and sadly, this is the truth.
