The Path

By Poemist

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

I summoned Heartache to walk with me O’er rocky paths and amber trails; And once in league to his desire, Would feel no more the wintry gales. And Sadness followed me as well Along dark roads and scattered leaves; I shook the hand held loft to me, Unaware of the trap she weaves. And once in the company of Fear I rested only to wake in lies; Abandoned hope of walking on, But shared my heart with vacant cries. And Love would only glance my way, No interest in what I had to say. Would only whisper in tones of gest The motives that live in all the rest.
