A random ghetto I stumbled on today. Deep in thought, I don't remember, What particular movement or reason, Compelled me to take a glance in her direction. My eyes became riveted to the girl. My limbs frozen, they could not move. An air of hopelessness and demoralization, Made up the very essence of her. It was the exact thing demanding me, To grasp her up in a desperate embrace, To hold her securely and never let go. Hollow circles beneath enormous haunting eyes. They never lost sight of me for a single minute. Thin! Oh she was wasting away thin! If it were not for the rags encasing her body, I am positive, I could count every rib! Questions and more questions filled my mind. Who is she? Where does she live? What troubled me most of all was, Wondering when was the last time she ate.
