One vs. World
By Ravenas
One vs. World The war rages on Some battles lost Some battles won I am a soldier on the loosing side I have ammo but no gun I have no trench, just the burning dead to protect my hide Time and time again I push myself forward Into the thickness of the fray Time and time again I am shot down Horribly maimed I lay. After much suffering I do die But my mind remembers my last wounds pain and am reborn… smaller, drained, fragile, Dispite this I drag myself back again I fight for my motherland! Beyond the opposition lies my peaceful home I must defeat these intruders That expelled me from my rightful place! So I can one again live with myself in my paradise Unfortunately, I stand alone, one soldier My fellow soldiers dead Or fled Or assimilated to the other side There are no new recruits to aid me in my endeavour Because the world is my enemy.i don't know -why- I used the symbolism I did, It's certainly uncharacteristic of my poetry. It's somewhat of an unfinished poem as well... an idea i started and never really developed... Written January 5th, 2002 © on Jan 05 2002 11:36 AM PST 10 • 0 • 1
