The Dapper Clan

By Rio Child

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

If we cannot by ourselves shine let us bring darkness to others; the flowing blood, the dark red wine moves us to capture the rudder of nationalities resigned, destined to dwell in the gutters. We will promise you salvation then deliver desperation packed in parcels with foreign names and deployed for your sons to play. Goodness: a symbol - pure garnish needs not struggles, even less stains. Painful is Evil the Tarnished, born of efforts calmly sustained till we may drink from Its chalice: nations gulped and victory gained. You are our foil and our fire, if our resolve you admire there is a secret you should know: it is from your soil that we grow, and from your toil.
