Redneck Roofer's
By RockyDean
From out of the south came a truck full of strangers, their tools on back of a little ford ranger. They pulled up in front of my little house, out of the back three men jumped out. In the front seat one man remained, the leader of this roofing gang. Their ladder went up and all their tools, in a matter of minutes they yelled lets roof. Then the leader got out and strapped on his pouch, climbed on my roof and started laying felt out. That man was running right and then to left, he was going so fast even I stopped to rest. Well I never seen the likes in all my life, I was thinking this is great they'll be done by five. Just then the leader yelled it's time for a break, go the ground boys and get you a drink. They broke out coolers full Bud lite, and started passing around a bottle of wine. Now my roofs needed fixed for quite some time, and I've searched and searched for just the right price. Now I was wondering if I've made the right choice, these fellows in my yard making so much noise. Well I was concerned to say the least, this project could turn into at least two weeks. But this story I've told really isn't true, I'm picking the fellows who put on the roofs. We need a little humor for the hard working man, cause roofers keep our house empty of pans. So the next time you see them up on the roof, give them a little honk are maybe a salute. Written December 4th, 2001 © on Dec 03 2001 04:10 PM PST 0 • 14
