American Hero In Loving Memory of Todd M. Beamer Copyright 2002 Scott James All Rights Reserved. Used By Permission He was headed for the airport Had to catch his plane But little did he know His world was about to change He wouldn't walk away alive He'd leave behind a family One of just many Who was killed aboard United Flight 93 It was on that tragic September day He risked his all to try to gain control As he stormed into the cockpit His voice echoed out "Let's Roll" He's an American Hero A hero who lost his life Whose wife gets through the day knowing He's an angel in heaven tonight She'll go on hoping She will have the strength to survive And through her children His memory will always be alive He's an American Hero So hard to believe Six months are about to pass her by Her children don't even understand Why all mommy does is cry She tells them she feels so alone Since daddy isn't coming home But still they wait at the front door Like they always have before It was on that tragic September day He risked his all to try to gain control As he stormed into the cockpit His voice echoed out "Let's Roll" Oh Let's Roll He's an American Hero A hero who lost his life Whose wife gets through the day knowing He's an angel in heaven tonight She'll go on hoping She will have the strength to survive And through her children His memory will always be alive As she closes her eyes at night She hears him say wipe away all the tears you've cried He tells her how much he loves her And that with time, her tears will subside He's an American Hero A hero who lost his life Whose wife gets through the day knowing He's an angel in heaven tonight She'll go on hoping She will have the strength to survive And through her children His memory will always be alive He's an American HERO A hero who lost his life (who lost his life) Whose wife gets through the day knowing He's an angel in heaven tonight (oh he's with God Tonight) She'll go on hoping (hoping hoping baby) She will have the strength to survive (will she have the strength to survive) And through her children (through their eyes) His memory will always be alive (forever be alive) He's an American HERO (an American hero) He's a hero, hero, an American Hero Written February 22nd, 2002 © on Feb 22 2002 08:41 AM PST   20 • 0 • 1
