September

Looking I can see for miles Now that the dust is gone I feel the calm wind tingle my neck The breeze is wonderful I am at peace My fears are relinquished Reminiscing Standing over a valley of ashes Memories lost in the heaps Pain is still felt looking on Malevolence is unforgotten Souls tarnished Physical remains wither away Once a center of life Has no more to offer more than rubble Fear Hell embarking on Earth Evil sweeps over integrity A master disguises in coward fashion Amassing casualties with destructiveness Radicals reaping the high of brutality Unity Ultimate tragedy still breeds new hope A statue remains tall in the harbor Abstract unison chants in harmony America’s brethren join hands Frozen hearts thaw A nation’s morale is heated Calling out evil with the power of love Refusal to fall in helplessness Instead we rise High enough to kiss the heavens Crying For fallen soldiers and heroes I wish you were still here to see A mass entity stimulated Applauding your actions Standing for our beliefs Falling in an act of bravery Alone defies cowardice Respiration Smile young woman Uncover your eyes Rejoice at blue skies Clouds lifted by angels Vintage eyes see new light Smell the fresh air of vivacity Sing a new song Today is a brighter dayI had to write this poem for a school project based on the events of September 11 Written May 5th, 2002 © on Apr 17 2002 02:04 PM PST 0 • 12
