The Handshake
By SlimShdy32
Two wise men sit down at a table in a coffee shop Conversation over a latte Today’s discussion on how to change the world The typical subjects… Terrorism, affirmative action, foreign affairs You know, politics as usual… A wise liberal and a wise conservative are they Debating, debating, debating Only farther from compromise as the contest gets more involved The two wise men continue to share their ideas Chatting, chatting, chatting A third man walks up “Wanna hear my two cents worth?” In uttermost disgust the snooty first man looks up at the third All he can say, however, is “yes” As if the third party could actually have a valid point against his His words come out Flowing, flowing, flowing Believing in one reason for the world’s tribulations Only one reason Criticizing the two wise men Explaining that their divided partisanship is the reason no one gets along If we are divided how can we agree? The third man stands up Shakes his head, shakes his head, shakes his head In a deep confused state the two men sit They say nothing Nothing at all Two complex men drawn off by simplicity Absolute silence lingers in the air The first man stands up The second man stands up The offer each other a handshake Nothing more Just a handshake…once again i fear i may confuse some with the message of my poem but i am interested to see if u can figure it out...
