So Whatever Happened?

By Sparkler Bree

Topics: Poetry Source: AllPoetry Original source

So whatever happened to that girl in your class? You know, the one that was really smart, but you made fun of her for it? Remember in fifth grade when she got glasses and you tortured her for months? What about the next year, when she got braces for her buck teeth? She talked funny for so long that eventually she just stopped talking. Remember when she began to develop bigger breasts than anyone in the class? Every girl wanted big boobs, but since she got them first, that made it bad. What about in high school, when she got all those pretty curves? Boys began to notice her, but she never noticed them noticing her. You see, she trained herself to shut everyone out. If there's no one in, she couldn't get hurt. Remember when she got that boyfriend? He loved her very much, but she didn't know what love is. He told her she was pretty and smart and talented and a good person, but she never believed. She finally learned to trust him, and then he hurt her like all the rest. Remember how she was never the same person again? Remember it was because she never knew who she was in the first place? Remember how an insecure little girl became an insecure woman who questioned everything she did? So whatever happened to that little girl in your class?                                                                 She became me. Written March 8th, 2002 © on Mar 07 2002 04:02 PM PST   0 • 1
