My Sonnet
By starchick
remember the movie Ten Things I Hate About You? well, i had seen it again this past weekend, and was compelled to look up the Shakespeare sonnet that the English teacher quoted, and here it is... Shakespeare's Sonnet 141 In faith I do not love thee with mine eyes, For they in thee a thousand errors note, But 'tis my heart that loves what they despise, Who in despite of view is pleased to dote. Nor are mine cares with thy tongue's tune delighted, Nor tender feeling to base touches prone, Nor taste, nor smell, desire to be invited To any sensual feast with thee alone. But my five wits, nor my five senses can Dissuade one foolish heart from serving thee, Who leaves unswayed the likeness of a man, Thy proud heart's slave and vassal wretch to be. Only my plague thus far I count my gain, That she that makes me sin, awards me pain. I then began to think, what if someone were to feel the opposite of that? so i wrote the opposite to his sonnet with the following... Mary Jane's Sonnet Mine eyes delight with thy sight, They find no error in thee. My heart is blinded by thine light, Tis a wonder you love a wretch like me, Mine ears are pleased with thy tongue's tune, These tender feelings are flying about, I would wish to delight you all but too soon, Yet mine head is still ringing from yesterday's clout, But my five wits, nor my five senses can, Persuade my foolish heart to serve thee, You ruin the likeness of a man, Mine proud heart's master and murderer to be. For though I love thee with all my life, I could not bequeath myself to have you as my wife.hope ya liked it ^_^ Written March 5th, 2002 © on Mar 05 2002 10:23 AM PST 0 • 8
