Those Eyes An orange gold sun descends in a winter sky adding beauty to the stark gray land Another day ends as so many have yet another wave upon the sand The black silhouettes of sleeping trees form a net of lace below As a flock of geese circle above landing gracefully in the cold winter snow A quiet moment of solitude enjoyed by those who care to look Taking the time to watch as water slides over pebbles in a brook But there are eyes that will never see another spring, summer or fall A baseball game, a summer storm those eyes see nothing at all But those eyes taught me well never to take life for granted To take the time to watch things grow the things that we had planted Cherish each minute left on this earth before my eyes close forever Hold on to the memories of things I've seen things I will always treasureAfter the death of a beloved friend, I found I couldn't write. My friend had been my inspiration and support. On my way home one night, I saw the opening line to this poem before me in the sunset and knew that he had sent it to me... Once again I am inspired...
