Earth mother in cut-off jeans leaves me startled at her sleekness I am in her house, among her friends and children gathered awaiting stories She is in my life suddenly, as a flash of blazing sun to pierce my winter in the shelter of her home we sit in comfort exchanging history Years and miles and generations are connected as minutes of conversation erase the distance between us I humbly offer, as gifts, pieces of my life encased in glitter She returns sweet words of praise and never before have I felt so honored by an audience Earth mother. my brother's daughter changes my point of view with deftly chosen words and leaves me startled at her wisdom Written November 20th, 2001 © on Nov 20 2001 02:11 AM PST   0 • 10
