Poem To Marina
Marina, You have taught me lessons of closeness and connection between those who live in seperate worlds and your constant smile for me tells me yes, we speak the same language The moment we met, I was wary and suspicious wondering what you could want with some tattered tramp, burned and bruised by a lifetime of bad luck and grave mistakes You waded into my world of misery asking "do you like to read?" and teasing me with the promise of stories to share I gazed at you- clean and neat and freshly scrubbed and assumed you were as far from me as a twinkling star Dark winter melted into warm soft spring as stories and lives were shared and I slowly learned what you might want from a tattered tramp like me You didn't know how you healed the burns and bruised made by despair You didn't know how you thawed my cold dark winter You couldn't know how you became entwined between the pages of my story We are neighbor, three blocks apart on the same street but in seperate worlds yet you have taught me about building bridges, and now you're no longer as distant as some twinkling star that lights the heavens; you are as close as my heart bringing light and warmth to the world where I live....a repost of a poem deleted from the original sweetbrother page. Some very cool people live on 24th Street. Written February 26th, 2002 © on Feb 26 2002 02:50 AM PST 10 • 0
