Bush Fire
By Tegs
Flames licking my toes, Creeping up, to my ankles, The pain is so intense, My skin is peeling, blackened Curling and cooked, flaking away. The heat, pouring up my frame. Up to my arms, burning them away, Sizzling and crackling As it reaches my hair. Overtaking my whole body, Endless agony, all-encompassing, Silent screams echo from us all, Caught together inside this fire, Unable to run, unable to hide. Charred, lifeless carcasses cover this wasteland, nothing left. And then a seed cracks open, A new flower, blooming in the carnage. Feeding off the death, making itself strong, Carrying on the circle of life, Forever. Written October 14th, 2001 © on Oct 13 2001 04:15 PM PST 0 • 10
