Nan and Granda

Nan & Granda I mind when I was very young, And my parents were na near, I’d look around, caught in panic, See my Nan and naught to fear. I mind when I was maybe older, A big lad chased me home, My Granda chased him oot the house, I thought him soldier bold. I mind the wild days of youth, When I’d ner a place tae stay, They took me in and made me safe, Never complained nor asked for pay. I mind the days before a left, Nervous steps tae bein a man, They helped me shift and gave me strength, And if it turned bad, just come back hame. I mind the days of livin away, But still just steps apart frae them, I never went back without words of concern, Conversation, a meal, or just a happy den. And when they’re gone and wee us no more, I will not cry though I will mourn, For I know our love will never fade, Nor the happy memories, I will treasure to my grave. Dedicated to all my Grandparents With love James Angus MackayThis makes me feel sad Written January 6th, 2002 © on Jan 06 2002 09:37 AM PST   0 • 1
