flickering candle
By tristessa
and they say that god is smiling and that we are always loved and that he gave his son for us and we nailed him against the sky kneeling like a sinner in this musty pew with my fading flame casting dancing shadows all around me and i can't help but wish that i could be dancing too now silent but for breathing i've got my head bowed and i took that cracker cuz it's what i'm supposed to do but somewhere deep inside me i'm crying for the truth standing still and quiet in this crowded church with my flickering candle and a picture of Jesus with light in his eyes and thorns upon his brow but i don't see his puncture wounds no i don't see his cross and i don't see much beyone the glow of my candle burning out Written April 1st, 2002 © on Apr 01 2002 11:38 AM PST 18 • 0 • 13
