(a spoken word song) been thinkin about this day for the past few months how i,d tell you and make you feel for me though i knew i wouldn,t so i sit and i wait and i think i imagine you being here i put my arms around you a warm embrace watchin vintage tapes the state - RAD - empire records and somehow i feel this isn,t right ------------------------------------------- (chorus) and i know you,re not here and i know i,m alone but i just can,t help myself you,ve gotta realise my thought pattern my motive sporadic at best i,m all about you dig? (Chorus) -------------------------------------- i crack open another bottle that green rock yea its my 4th but i,m not counting and what if i was? i know everything about longing not that you don,t know everything about longing do you know anything about longing? its been a long day its been a long week its been a long life a hard life don,t i owe it to myself yea i suppose --------------------------------------- (chorus) --------------------------------------- and the phone rings i said hello and he said hello how are you and i said oh i,m alright and you? but there,s no reply it must be you i,ll pretend its you and i ask how your day was and i tell you i love you and you,re only response: [dialtone] and you,d tell me i,m right and you,d tell me its right and you,d tell me it,ll all be alright -------------------------------' (chorus) -------------------------------- and i went out to get a coffee grande capuccino no lie - i,m predictable sheepish grrl at the counter she questions me and yes i,ve seen the movie and i suppose i do look like him and i thank you for the compliment and i remember it was cold oh so cold just plain dismal and i walked on and on searching but i know you,re not out here and i see a friend and i tell him that there,s this grrl and he says its good for me and i laugh with him cos i know i,m too timid too shy to do what this day was to bring me ------------------------------------ (chorus) ------------------------------------ and i,m sorry and i,m sorry and i,m sorry and i,m sorry and what am i sorry for i,m pretty sure you don,t even know know what you mean who you are cos this IS about you baby you don,t know who YOU are and that,s the problem ------------------------------------ (chorus) ------------------------------------ Written March 26th, 2002 © on Mar 28 2002 09:03 AM PST   10 • 0
