Hiding in Blankets
By violetfyre
Venus overshadowed Sirius in the blue of a rainbow sunrise. Night was gone and day was blinding as it choked the life out of us. It was already Saturday and I had not yet slept, dreamt, we had not yet lived. Night was gone and I had not yet begun to fight. By Monday there would be no fight left in me. Saturday we skipped work, opportunity cost was low. We never slept, but we dreamed, told ghost stories, touched lips and hearts. He held me tighter when I was cold or scared, or frowning. We hid in plaid flannel blanket huts and wished the night would never end. The sun rose. Pinkish-gold filtered though the window. Normal people got up and went to work. We slept an hour and looked at each other as if it was the end of everything. It was Sunday. We took the scenic route to Modena and said a long goodbye before I resigned myself to another three-hour drive back to a city that's always asleep. ** Written October 29th, 2001 © on Oct 29 2001 01:51 AM PST 18 • 0 • 10
