Remembering Dirt Floors
By violetfyre
The sun is rising when I go to bed And setting when I wake. My daytime's shaped by the artificial lights Of a world we've made. I'm stable, for once, But I feel that maybe you're flying aimlessly. Your world's passing at the speed of light, But you're ignoring the gravity. Can you believe it's almost over? The drunken nights, the tears. The year. Was time lost in musty beer basements Or did those nights spent sleeping On the bathroom floor make us stronger? Sometimes I think the world will stop turning, Usually whenever I'm in your arms, Whenever you pry open my heart With those intense eyes, and tell me you love me, When you pull the covers up over us And hug me as if you're taking your last breath. Blink before it's over. Remember the dizzy moments, Remember tents pitched on packed dirt floors, Skin touching skin touching fleece. Remember lonely nights spent in dream of each other. Believe it's almost over. Believe this is almost real. **Not much of an ending, but I suppose it will do. ** Written January 2nd, 2002 © on Jan 06 2002 11:29 AM PST 18 • 0 • 10
